Limited Edition Prints By Martin Decent
Originally known for his landscapes, in the past few years Martin Decent
subject matter has broadened to seascapes and interiors. One element however has
remained consistent and this is his interest in the effects of colour and its
creation of an emotional response; consequently his pallet has remained an
individual trademark of his work. Martin Decent also works in abstraction,
although he tends to paint this within the confines of a representational
subject. Using the symbolism of objects Martin Decent is interested in
representing the ‘positive side’ of human life by using colour and texture.
Martin Decent often quotes Matisse ‘There is something unexplored in everything,
because we have grown used to letting our eyes be conditioned by the memory of
what others have thought before us...’
